Harbour Festival 2010

Fado from Porto and Tbilisi Dancers at this years Harbour Festival

The Twinning Zone in Castle Park this year will be offering visitors the rare chance to hear live Fado music from our twin city in Portugal. Claudia Aurora from Porto has just released her first cd "Silencio"and video and will be performing live on Sunday afternoon in the twinning marquee. "Silencio looks at the pre-dawn, hears the voice that speaks in the heart of the sea" sings Claudia. Venue magazine describes her as "technically the best singer in Bristol."

The twinning café will be offering a special Mozambican lunch of goat in beer as well as specialities from our other twin cities. Alongside the delicious food, storyteller Michael Loader will be telling tall tales from Tbilisi in English for children on both days. Special guest dancer Inga Kavelashvili from Tbilisi will be performing in traditional costume with two male Georgian dancers on Sunday. There will also be a Port Wine Stand offering a range of Port from Porto and members of the twinning associations will be informing people about their forthcoming activities, projects and events.

Alix Hughes the twinnings association co-ordinator said

" The harbour festival is a fantastic event and we always enjoy putting on the twinning zone to show people some of the rich and diverse cultural possibilities which our international city links offer. Come along and bring the kids"
